Caroline Summerfest is coming.
Join us August 19 and 20th as the 23rd annual end of summer
celebration unfolds on the streets of Downtown Denton.
You have been directed to this site while the official
Summerfest website is being improved.
Caroline Summerfest is a free family entertainment festival
featuring two stages of regional and local entertainment, a
Friday pedestrian parade, Saturday fireworks show, strolling
performers, artisans, free KidzArt activities, gaming and food
vendors featuring local non-profits.
Hours are Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to
10 p.m. Free parking and shuttle bus transportation will be
available from the Health and Public Services Building off 6th
Street (across from Fire Hall) on both days.
Stay tuned for the unveiling of the theme for 2011!
Each year festival producers identify a theme. "It's simply an
effort to keep our programming ideas fresh", commented Sue
Simmons with Recreation and Parks, "and to keep it fun!" Local
non-profit vendors are encouraged to decorate their booths for
the theme to win the $100 cash prize for the best decorated
booth.
Pedestrian Parade
The general public can celebrate the theme by entering in the
Pedestrian Parade in costume or with a pedestrian pulled (wagon)
float. There will be cash prizes of $150 for top family/group
entries and $50 for top single entries. Registration is free
and can be completed in advance or the day of the event in front
of the Denton Town Hall on Third Street. Parade includes the
NCHS Band of Blue, stilt-walkers, jugglers, street dancers,
military color guards and local officials.

Summerfest Cruize-In and Car Show
Consider being a part of the annual Caroline Summerfest Car Show and Cruize-In on Friday and Saturday sponsored by the Preston Automotive Group. The Friday evening Cruize-In and Saturday judged Car Show puts you right in the heart of the downtown festival with perfect seats for people watching.
Thanks to the expert organization of the Caroline Cruizers under the direction of Jan McMichael, automobile enthusiasts can display their cars for the two-day event for $16 if pre-registered. Dash plaques are awarded for the first 50 registrants and over 15 choice awards will be presented. Click here for a registration form.
